JAN 2017: Assembly Focus
We have a range of assemblies across the week, through assemblies we build our sense of community,
sharing values, reflecting on important issues and celebrating our successes together. In my
assemblies this term I will be talking about the values of compassion and empathy. We will be looking
at the work of a range of different charities, why they exist, the issues they tackle and how they help.
We will be considering how we can show kindness and support to others and how to raise and
support issues that are of concern. If you work with a charity, or have any useful contacts that may be
willing to talk to the children please let me know. In my assemblies we also
announce the weekly punctuality tally – to great cheers or groans! and
present achievement awards such as MACs.
Monday assemblies are usually led by Clare or Kay and often feature
important celebrations or events such as Hanukah or International Women’s
day.
Children also have a phase group assembly through which they teach
aspects of the PHSE curriculum, this includes work on being a good friend,
anti-bullying sessions, stereotypes, being healthy etc. We have a singing and music assembly on
Thursdays and assemblies led by classes or teachers each Friday.
