January 2015 Success for Christopher Hatton

At the end of term we received a letter from Rt Hon David Laws MP Minister of State for Schools congratulating us on winning an award for the progress and attainment of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium (Pupils that have been in receipt of Free School Meals at any point in primary school) He stated:

‘The reason you have been selected is that you are one of the most improved schools in the country in terms of the attainment and progress of your disadvantaged pupils since 2011. It is clear that you and your staff have provided your disadvantaged pupils with a good start in life and prepared them well for secondary school”

We are really proud of this achievement; 100% of disadvantaged pupils achieved level 4 (the expected end of KS2 level) in reading, writing and maths.

It is not just the Pupil premium children who are making excellent progress and attaining high levels. Every year the Department for Education compare schools to 125 similar schools across the country based on prior attainment. Christopher Hatton is in 1st place this year.
