Parents Association

Our parents' association is known as CHAPs (Christopher Hatton Association of Parents), which is also a registered charity, CHAPerones – charity no. 1123189. All parents of children at Christopher Hatton are automatically members of CHAPs, there is no need to "join", everyone can help out at events and fundraisers such as the summer fair and school discos (every little bit of time can make a big difference).

CHAPs was quiet during the pandemic and we lost a few of our more active members so we are currently looking for those with the time to help with the admin that comes with raising funds and organising events. Clare the deputy is currently leading CHAPs in this transition period (her child only has a couple of years left at Christopher Hatton).

CHAPs has raised tens of thousands of pounds for school projects over the years: the transformation of an old carpark into a lovely new playground, the rooftop learning zone for the children in the Early Years, annual trips to the pantomime and music for International Evening. We regularly pay for class workshops, buy art supplies and school equipment including ipads.

Get involved!

In the run up to main events CHAPs meets at Coffee Morning held on Fridays from 9.00 to 10.00 in the Lower Hall. These will be advertised via Parenthub closer to the time. This is also a good chance to get to know other parents.

For more details speak to Clare the deputy headteacher (and parent) or email CHAPs at chapspta@gmail.com

Upcoming events

Our next event is the Christmas Disco at 3.30pm in the lower hall on Thursday 14th December 2023.

Recent events

We held our annual summer fair on Saturday 1st July 2023 and raised over £4000 through the sales of raffle tickets and food and drink stalls on the day.

Our Christmas disco in December 2022 raised over £50 whilst also giving the children a really enjoyable evening of hot dogs and dancing.

School Carol Singers raised over £100 for CHAPs by singing on a visit to 200 Grays Inn Road office and also for parents at the Christmas shows.

Our summer fair in July 2022 raised over £4000. Thanks to all those who secured raffle prizes, served food and drinks and ran stalls.

Use of funds

CHAPs funding decisions are based on ensuring that funds used benefit as large a number of children as possible and are not a substitute for statutory funding. They are used to enrich the curriculum. Details of exact figures and funding requests from school will be posted here. Any questions please see Clare the Deputy Headteacher.

We are currently seeking parents who are willing to be listed as signatories to the CHAPs bank account and also listed trustees on the Charity Commission website.
